Position Description

Entry Salary - $34,115.38

Under general supervision, the Parking Citation Assistant is responsible for communicating and engaging with the general public and other City departments regarding parking services.
Duties and Responsibilities

ssential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Researches, investigates, and gathers information for parking citations; gathers photos, history of license place, and any other relevant documentation; retains evidence, keeps accurate records, and communicates with citizens regarding citations.
  • Answers telephone calls, receives the general public and provides information or referrals regarding departmental and/or City policies, procedures, applicable rules and regulations, and services.
  • Communicates, explains, and provides assistance to individuals the reasons for parking citations and procedures for the disposition of the citations; handles citation payments, ensures appropriate processing, and enters correct numbers into the collection spreadsheet.
  • Handles all incoming and outgoing mail; receives, processes, and appropriately files court documentation and other court process documents.
  • Provides public information about the area, such as: bus schedules, street directions, hotel and restaurant locations, special events and attractions.
  • Explains and assists patrons with various rates or fees; process requests for service and maintains accurate records and service files.
  • Responds, addresses, and resolves billing problems, receiving payments, and tendering receipts.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and resolves account receivables and/or computer data base to determine if delinquent payments have been made.
  • Composes, creates, and drafts written correspondence; generates bills, invoices, and other requirements for payment.
  • Participates, assists, and supports the department with various special projects; manages all citations, corrects errors with outstanding citations, and ensures all citations have been entered correctly; disposes of sensitive information per City Codes.
  • Assists and supports the parking attendants when needed; performs operations and basic maintenance for garages and facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Criminal Justice Security and Awareness Training Level 2 needed within 60 days of hire date.

This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:
Telephone, copier, fax machine, printer, calculator, personal computer, applicable departmental computer information system applications, and other equipment as assigned.

Employees selected for this position must meet FDLE guidelines in order to access sensitive and/or confidential information. Applicants with arrest histories for felonies or serious misdemeanors may be denied access to this information and as such, will not meet the minimum qualifications for a position with the City of Clearwater.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate PLUS one (1) year of clerical office and/or customer service experience; previous public interaction work experience handling potentially confrontational complaints is preferable; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
