Position Summary

The Boatyard Project Manager is responsible for guiding yachts and boats through the donation, lease and/or sale process. Regarding each vessel as a separate "Project", this position will manage assessments, inspections, material improvements and upkeep of all vessels donated to AMIkids for the leasing program, outright sale, and all vessels in the AMIkids "in use" fleet.

Essential Job Duties

  • Work with Yacht Donation Facilitators to discuss potential incoming donations, visit the vessel for visual inspections and attend incoming marine surveys for all vessels being considered for donation to AMIkids,
  • Record and quantify necessary maintenance and repair work; define project scope and assist in the development of Material Improvement budgets for all vessels donated to AMIkids, to include, AMIkids "in use" fleet,
  • Create and monitor project schedule to complete the maintenance/repair and/or material improvements of all AMIkids vessels on time and in budget,
  • Develop and assist with the creation of a "Quality Control" checklist, ensuring the checklist is used for each donated vessel,
  • Coordinate work schedules so project milestones are met for each vessel,
  • Consult with, and coordinate work completed by, outside vendors,
  • Assist with the ordering of parts and materials needed for each project and adjusting project budget, if necessary,
  • Inspect quality of work performed and develop a vendor scoring system,
  • Monitor all vessels, ensuring routine maintenance is taking place, and ensure all safety and security equipment on vessels is in date and inspected at recommended intervals,
  • Manage all Projects, with specific focus on potential cost overruns or project delays,
  • Communicate project progress to Facilitators, Boatyard, and AMIkids management,
  • Further develop skills to assist with Yacht and Boat movements as needed, and to operate AMIkids vessels for Marine Education ("Floating Classroom") events as needed,
  • Work with Marine Program Manager to educate and train AMIkids Youth taking part in the AMIkids Marine Education Program,
  • Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,
  • Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with National standards,
  • Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree,
  • Captain License required, 100 ton or unlimited preferred. A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in the marine industry,
  • Experience estimating projects, writing service orders, and managing projects,
  • Operational knowledge of large yachts and boats including maintenance, upkeep, and repair,
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently, or as part of a team.
