Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Summer Camp Instructor to join our team for an engaging 8 week summer program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children, delivering structured curriculum activities, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable camp experience.

Department: Workforce and Professional Development

Hours: 29 - Temporary Position (8-Weeks)

Location: St. Pete/Gibbs Campus June 3, 2024-July 26, 2024

The teacher is responsible for providing a creative, academic learning opportunity for the students in his/her class.

  • Curriculum Implementation: Execute pre-designed lesson plans and activities in accordance with the camp's curriculum, fostering an environment of learning and fun.
  • Supervision and Chaperoning: Oversee campers during field trips, ensuring their safety and engagement while promoting educational experiences outside the camp setting.
  • Child Engagement: Foster a supportive and inclusive environment, building rapport with campers to encourage participation and personal development.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment at all times, following camp safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with campers, parents, and staff, providing updates on activities, progress, and any concerns that may arise.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other instructors and camp staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching camp experience for all participants.
  • Instructors: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm $20.00 per hour (temporary part time position) - 6 positions
  • Floater: Monday - Friday 11:00am - 3:00pm $18.00 per hour (temporary part time position) - 2 positions
  • State of Florida certified teacher (preferred)

The Instructor:

  • reports directly to the Site Director
  • observes the impact of learning activity on the students and makes adjustments as necessary
  • is dependable in attendance, flexible and strives with other staff for a common goal
  • is responsible for exercising good judgment in activities that could endanger the child
  • records attendance
  • monitors bathroom breaks and class change times
  • any other duties as assigned
