Join us in Tampa, FL, as Lead Firmware Engineer, driving cutting-edge firmware development for embedded cryptographic programs. Your expertise will shape the architecture, optimize power, and select components crucial for securing military communications. As the technical lead, you'll pioneer embedded algorithms, drivers, and interfaces vital to our programs. Position Description:

  • Act as the firmware lead within the Tampa office and for all embedded crypto projects, with overall responsibility for firmware technical accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Provide overall firmware architecture, design and guidance for programs.
  • Interact with customer during milestone reviews and formal testing events..
  • Design, develop and lead trade studies in power design optimization and FPGA/SoC component selection for embedded systems.
  • Support technical proposal solution development and engineering level of effort estimations.
  • Develop embedded algorithms and functions in firmware.
  • Develop custom interfaces, and support existing and legacy interfaces.
  • Develop device drivers for hardware components.
  • Support the creation of engineering documents to support various contracts, including Software/Hardware Requirements Specification(s) (SHRS), Interface Requirements Specification(s) (IRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Software Hardware Design Description (SHDD)
  • Work closely with a team of engineers and technical staff that perform a variety of broad engineering tasks involving design, implementation and testing to include hardware, software, systems, electrical, and mechanical designs.
  • Executes engineering research, design development and other assignments in conformance with engineering requirements and customer specifications.
  • Define unit, integration, and acceptance test plans and test procedures for hardware integration.
  • Conduct/Support verification and validation of hardware designs
  • Participate in process/tool improvements and drive quality metrics.
  • Provide written and oral progress updates.
  • Act as a mentor to other engineers, providing guidance and coaching.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies that can be beneficial to the projects and business.
  • Understand business objectives, priorities, and company's vision. Proactively assess and adjust team's objectives, priorities, and tasks so that they remain aligned with higher level objectives and vision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance. Security Clearances are granted to US Citizens.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/software engineering/computer engineering/electrical engineering or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in: (1) Digital design and VHDL (2) embedded processors and System on Chip [SoC] development (3) integration experience w/ FPGA/SoC based systems (4) Digitial signal processing as applied to FPGA/SoC devices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq and/or UltraScale+ SoCs and related toolchains
  • Expertise in FPGA timing constraints and timing closure
  • Knowledge/experience of software programming and how software and firmware integrate/interact
  • Experience with C programming language
  • Experience in Security Design/Information Assurance
  • Knowledge/experience of NSA Type 1 Certification process
  • Knowledge/experience of relevant US DoD Cryptographic products developments and systems
  • Knowledge of network administration and setup
  • Knowledge of embedded systems design using Microblaze, Nios or ARM processors
  • Experience with scripting languages and establishing automated test setups using languages such as TCL and batch scripts
  • Strong configuration management and documentation experience
  • Ability to interact with customer and customer representatives
  • Requires strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to adapt skills to various analytical situations
  • Must be able to identify repeatable failure modes, identify root cause for failure mode and implement solutions for failure modes
