Job Description

The Strategic Ledger program is a key part of the Financial Books & Records (FB&R) Transformation Initiative established under the wider Citi Finance Transformation which comprises three pillars - Accounting, Ledgers and Close, and associated global platforms, processes, and governance. The program focuses on standardizing and reducing risk across current FB&R processes and establishing the next iteration of ledger strategy to adopt and implement global standard SaaS/Cloud based accounting and ledger platforms.

Oracle Cloud has been selected as the technology platform, after a rigorous technical and functional assessment of Citi's current ledger platforms against leading industry solutions. The new platform provides enhanced technical capability and supports our finance transformation strategy and realization of our Target Operating Model. The outcome will be a robust global process, governance, and controls to ensure consistent and materially accurate, complete, and timely ledger data and results.

Within the program, there is a need for an FB&R Ledger Business Analyst / Project Manager with prior data conversion experience on an ERP implementation or similar finance program with a data migration component. The successful candidate will work with partners across Finance & Technology as well as the System Integrator consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage specific data conversion workstream deliverables to meet the objectives of the Strategic Ledger program using clearly defined and actively maintained plans.
  • Planning and coordination of day-to-day activities through regular workstream calls.
  • Support data analysis and summarize findings in a concise and clear manner to give clarity and enable decision making.
  • Manage workstream intra- and inter-dependencies across stakeholder groups within and outside the program including System Integrators.
  • Provide pro-active risk management, mitigation planning, and resolutions
  • Collate weekly status reports and provide insightful, constructive feedback/challenge
  • Manage the strategic ledger governance meetings as required and address Program Office workstream deliverables including Integrated Project Plan.
  • Partner with other program workstreams to coordinate alignment with Data Conversion deliverables to achieve overall program objectives.
  • Demonstrate firm understanding of principles and best practices for successful data conversion through prior experience.
  • Demonstrate extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Build strong relationships with Program Office Leaders, Program Sponsors and Technology Leaders
  • Ensure consistency of deliverables and artefacts across all workstreams.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 6-10 years of relevant work experience with global corporations and financial services experience gained in Banking or in an associated consulting role
  • Prior experience with digital and cloud tools to simplify, standardize, and automate Ledger processes is preferred.
  • Experience with large organizational transformations; SaaS enabled ERP implementations (Oracle, SAP or Workday) and related data conversion activities.
  • Understanding of the regulatory and control requirements around Citi's ledgers including ICOFR and SOX
  • Understanding of accounting concepts both US GAAP and IFRS, general ledger processes, Chart of Accounts design, and close and consolidation processes
  • Process experience within a Chief Accounting Officer, Controllership and Finance Shared Services Organization will be beneficial.

  • High proficiency with industry standard project and release management tools e.g. MS Project, JIRA and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for presentation development and Excel for reporting.
  • Strong written/verbal communications skills; must be concise, articulate, and persuasive with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions and provide insightful commentary to senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable navigating complex, highly matrixed organizations
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels within the organization including senior management, including a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues/requests
  • Growth mindset, seeking and implementing feedback and maintaining flexibility to pivot and course correct as needed
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; must be articulate and persuasive Ability to drive change to business practices by working effectively across a global organization and to understand different perspectives

Education:

  • Bachelors' degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management or related field is required; CPA or equivalent will be a differentiator.
  • 6 - 10 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field in the Financial Services industry is required.
  • Project Management certifications e.g., PMP (Project Management Professional), Agile Certifications or equivalent is a strong plus.
