Job Description

The Risk Regulatory Affairs team ensures the Independent Risk organization maintains a strong and productive engagement model with Regulators, Prudential Regulators including the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC. The team proactively manages regulatory matters to ensure the organization provides high quality and timely content that is responsive to regulators' expectations. The team partners closely with subject matter experts within Independent Risk to:

  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory examinations and reviews to ensure the risk teams are organized and proactively addressing regulatory requests and concerns.
  • Manage execution of regulatory interactions, including ongoing supervisory meetings and information requests, to strengthen regulatory relations from an Independent Risk Management perspective.
  • Produce thematic summaries to Senior Management on regulatory interactions and developments to provide insight and advice.
  • Conduct exam readiness assessments to ensure the organization proactively self-identifies issues and documentation is ready for submission.
  • Support the development of appropriate and comprehensive responses and remediation plans when regulatory issues and concerns are identified; and
  • Work closely with partners in other Businesses and Functions, to ensure consistent and clear communications to regulators.

Position Objective:

The objective of this role is to support the execution of regulatory interactions for the Wholesale Credit Risk team to ensure the organization is responsive, agile, and well-prepared for unique and demanding regulatory requests. The position requires significant project management and stakeholder engagement to ensure that regulatory interactions are thoughtful, comprehensive and culminate in consistent messaging. In addition, there is opportunity to provide senior management with themes that emerge from the feedback received through these points of regulatory contact. The scope of coverage for the role is inclusive of matters pertaining to the Wholesale Credit Risk organization and its respective governance, frameworks and practices across several lending products and sectors, including Corporates, Financial Institutions, Commercial Real Estate, Counterparty, Trade Finance and Payments Risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Lead in the management of regulatory engagements including exams, reviews, meetings, and information requests, with a focus on ensuring regulatory expectations are addressed on a holistic and consistent basis.
  • Contribute to reporting for senior management on regulatory feedback and key thematic findings to drive awareness of and help anticipate regulatory concerns.
  • Build working relationships and effectively partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts within the Risk organization and more broadly across Risk and Businesses to promote an integrated approach to regulatory relations.
  • Attend regulatory meetings to represent the organization on regulatory matters and record meeting summaries and follow-up actions.
  • Review and provide quality assurance of risk management deliverables submitted to regulators.
  • Assist in high priority regulatory ad hoc projects across their lifecycle by identifying and structuring problems, analyzing root causes, developing solutions, communicating project results, and obtaining buy-in for change.
  • Partner with the Risk Issues and Controls team on regulatory issue oversight to ensure responses to regulatory concerns are well-informed and appropriately address concerns raised.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6-10 years relevant experience
  • Experienced in project management with excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills
  • Awareness of general concepts/ principles of risk management with a background in credit risk preferred
  • Experience interacting with regulators preferred
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
  • Attention to detail and willingness to "roll up sleeves"
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SharePoint
