PURPOSE

Plans, directs, and controls operations of fleet operations at multiple facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assesses fitness of the fleet and recommends changes, as necessary.
  • Coordinates repair and maintenance of fleet at designated facilities.
  • Ensures that DOT regulations and policies are communicated and adhered to by employees at each facility.
  • Maintains files, auditing for completeness and accuracy of file content.
  • Reviews driver's inspection reports and logs.
  • Assigns and reviews hours worked at each facility.
  • Provides or coordinates training of employees.
  • Establishes and enforces administrative fleet policies and procedures.
  • Investigates causes of accidents and takes steps to insure that they will not recur.
  • Reviews complaints from shippers and passengers regarding improper or discourteous service.
  • Inspects company facilities and equipment throughout division.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training;
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience preferred over education.
