Job Description

Waste Connections has an immediate opening for an experienced Scale House Attendant/Administrative Support to join the team at our location in St Petersburg, FL.

Monday-Friday starting at 6:00am typically working 10-11 hour days. This position includes weekend work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide exceptional customer service through answering phones, greeting guests and customers, and directing all guests/customers upon entering the property.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed properly for each Inbound and Outbound vehicle and ensure data on paperwork is correct.
  • Review and collect paperwork from Inbound and Outbound vehicles, obtain Gross & Net weights, and key information into computer system applications.
  • Create and maintain a schedule daily of vehicles picking up outbound loads.
  • Create, Review, and Maintain accurate Purchase Order Log.
  • Review and maintain accurate Equipment Condition Reports (ECR's) and enter mileage and fuel daily for equipment.
  • Retrieve, review, input and maintain pertinent information for Maintenance Department, including data entry and manual filing systems.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties, including answering telephone, filing, photocopying, faxing, posting of communication and notices, and ordering of parts, materials and supplies as directed.
  • Work in a team environment and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.
  • Become proficient in utilizing company's computer systems and applications; email, Intranet applications, Internet (for business purposes), Microsoft Office, Waste Works or TRUX, Castrol, and Equipment Maintenance System (EMS).
  • Primary communication etiquette to employees, labor firm, guests, and customers in person and over the phone.
  • Ensure that customers conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain an organized and efficient workspace and work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership Team.
  • Acknowledge a typical workday is an 11-hour shift, generally from 6:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Willingness to work occasional Saturdays.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL EXHIBIT:

  • Self-starter who is dependable to follow directions and perform tasks without repetitive oversight.
  • Excellent customer service skills: previous customer service experience is expected.
  • Proficiency using computer systems and applications; Microsoft Office, Internet, and other proprietary point-of-sale systems, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Data entry experience. (Preferred, but not required. We will train)
  • A track record of Safety, Integrity, Reliability and Punctuality.
  • A high degree of attention to detail.

JOB PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comfortable sitting for prolonged periods of time in front of computer.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
